So this past month I have been really stressed out pretty much over anything and everything and it was starting to affect my sleep, which was then affecting me the next day at work. However, I tried out a few new things and added a couple of things into my night time routine and they have really helped me so I thought I would share this with you today.
So the first thing I will do when I get home from work is take my make up off. I usually just wash my face and then I use the Simple Micellar Cleansing Water to get rid of the rest of the make up left on my face. I will then put some moisturiser on and at the minute I am using the Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser. As you can tell, I'm liking products from Simple at the minute and I just picked these up as they are both quite cheap.
I will then have a hot bath as this really relaxes me after working all day. I will either use a Radox Bubble Bath or a Lush product. At the minute I only have one Lush bath bomb left and it is my favourite one 'Think Pink'. Whilst I am waiting for the bath to run, I will usually put a mud mask on and I am still using the Marine Mud Mask from Helen's Beauty Box on Facebook as I love it and my face feels so clean after washing this off. I leave the mud mask on for 20 minutes whilst I am in the bath so to pass the time I will usually put some relaxing music on. My favourite albums to listen to are Ed Sheeran - X, Ella Henderson - Chapter One or Sam Smith - In the Lonely Hour.
I try not to watch any tv in my bedroom. The only thing that I really watch before I go to bed is I'm a Celebrity so I will watch that downstairs with my parents and then I will usually go to sleep straight after that rather than watching something in my bedroom. I have noticed such a difference in my sleeping pattern since doing this.
However, when I do spend time in my bedroom I will try to make it as cosy as I can. I will put my fairy lights on and I have a matching lamp on my bedside table which I will also put on. I also love having candles lit and I find them so relaxing. Right now I have some of the Strawberry and Cream tealights from Next which are my favourite ones from there. I have also recently purchased a Yankee Candle and this one is called 'Christmas Morning'. I wanted a Christmassy scented one to get me excited for Christmas because it is a month today until Christmas! I will try and link some of these products down below, however I am not sure if the fairy lights and the lamp are still in stock.
Just before I am planning to go to bed I like to write in my journal. I have this Q&A Journal and I really like it because, as you can guess, you have a question a day that you answer and this lets me reflect on the day and what I have actually done during that day. It is also a five year journal so each year you can look back at your answers from the last year. After doing this I will use the Headspace app on my iPhone. I don't use this all the time, only when I have a lot of things on my mind and can't really switch off before bed but I find that this app really helps me to relax. I usually put some headphones in, lay down on my bed and just listen to the app and it focuses on your breathing and making sure that you're thinking about your breathing rather than anything else. I was recommended this ages ago, probably over a year ago, so I know that this works for me when I have a lot of things on my mind but it might not work for everyone.
The final thing I will do before I go to sleep is to use a sleep spray. I used to have trouble sleeping ages ago and at the time my mum saw this sleep spray and got it for me. It is the Body Shop Deep Sleep Dreamy Body Mist. It says on the bottle that you should spray it on your body 15-30 minutes before you go to bed but the woman in the shop told my mum to spray it onto your pillows too. I don't find this spray works every night so I will only use this on nights that I don't feel very tired or nights that I have a lot of things on my mind and I find that the scent just relaxes me a lot but again this might not work for everyone.
So that is everything that I will do at night time to help me to de-stress and relax before I go to sleep. I will try to link some of the products use down below. I hope you liked this post and I hope some of these tips work for you if you are having trouble relaxing or getting to sleep.
